All about Pericarditis

In most cases pericarditis develops as a complication of an underlying disease. Since it’s an inflammatory condition, it might seem that it could be the consequence of an infectious disease. However, there are different types of pericarditis depending in its cause:

  • Pericarditis caused by viral, bacterial, parasitic or fungal infections. The most common infectious organisms include streptococcus, Epstein-Barr virus, Candida fungi, toxoplasma, echinococcus.
  • Pericarditis provoked by autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma.
  • Traumatic pericarditis that results from severe injuries or trauma in the chest area. Sometimes it can develop after a surgical intervention in this area.
  • Pericarditis developing due to tumors located directly on the pericardial layers or in the adjacent areas.
  • Pericarditis associated with serious metabolic disorders such as Addison’s disease.

The most common causes of pericarditis include rheumatism and tuberculosis. Besides, the provoking factors for pericarditis are myocardial infarction, endocarditis, allergic reactions, and radiation therapy.

Since this pathology usually develops as a complication of other diseases, it lacks specific clinical symptoms; however, depending on the type, pericarditis symptoms include any of the following:

  • Piercing or sharp pain in the middle or left side of the chest that can spread to one or both shoulders
  • Attacks of heart palpitations

  • Preventing complications

Treatment methods and its duration are determined by the cause that provoked inflammation and complications, if any. Once experiencing first symptoms of pericarditis, one should seek medical advice as soon as possible.

Stress Contribute to High Blood Pressure

So what happens at that moment in your body? Under normal circumstances stress hormones such as epinephrine, norepinephrine, glucocorticoids, adrenaline, and antidiuretic hormone are released into blood to give your muscles the strength to be ready for fight or flight. In the case of the antidiuretic hormone its purpose is to keep stable the fluid volume in your body. It follows that by regulating the amount of blood volume this hormone also has a pronounced effect on stroke volume, which is the amount of blood pumped by the heart. Thus, the antidiuretic hormone has a crucial role on blood pressure. When in a stressful situation this hormone functions by activating and increasing slightly the blood pressure, which in normal individuals act as a helper to perform better; however, when the lifestyle is stressful and the individual does not know how to cope with the daily life activities then it becomes chronic stress, distress and/or anxiety. Anxiety is a common emotion that is experienced by anyone at some point in life; however, it can affect an individual in negative ways if not dealt with properly. Therefore, the increase of vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone) under stressful circumstances out of control will increase blood pressure when someone has already elevated values. Given the seriousness of what stress and anxiety can transform into, it is important that you learn to deal with anxiety in healthy and appropriate ways to benefit yourself and those around you. Each individual’s responses are different and can be related to health and stress and may cause a significant impact not only on health but also in the outcome of serious illnesses.

Lastly, stress as perceived as a normal response of the body helps it to perform faster and stronger and becomes a life saver under a life threatening situation that is an immediate reaction; nevertheless, chronic stress without control leads the body and the mind to be in a continuing perception of daily events as threats, which in turn, may cause the increasing of blood pressure if you have risk factors for hypertension or already elevated values.

Remove Cigarette Smell From Home

Tip 1- Open the windows and let the fans run. This allows ventilation which can work great in getting rid of the odor around your home.

Tip 2 – Clean fixtures including light bulbs. Light bulbs tend to disperse the smell when they are heated and cleaning then can go a long way in keeping the smell at bay. You can alternatively consider using bulbs that do not heat up as much when in use to keep the problem under control.

Tip 3 – Clean all hard surfaces thoroughly with ammonia based cleaners, ensuring that you clean window insides, but keeping acidic products off your woodwork to keep damages at bay. You can also consider painting surfaces to trap the odor even though this might offer only temporary results.

Tip 4 – Consider replacing the carpet because it can be very hard to remove smoke particles from it. It also helps to scrub the flooring that is beneath the carpet before installing a new one. Another step you can take to still use the same carpet is hiring professional carpet cleaning services. The experts will know the best products and techniques to use to thoroughly clean your carpet and get rid of the smell.

Tip 5 – Soak blinds and use an all-purpose cleaner to scrub off the smell and let them dry. You can have the curtains professionally cleaned or if need be, replace them to keep your house smelling good.
